Forum on Renewing & Reinvesting in Infrastructure
Investing in America's Competitiveness

Sheraton Grand Hotel | Sacramento, CA
December 2, 2008 | 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

We are pleased to invite Bay Area Council members to participate in an important post-election forum on renewing and reinvesting in national and Northern California infrastructure. The forum, titled “Investing in America’s Competitiveness,” will launch a civic-led effort to develop a national infrastructure investment strategy, spurring federal investment and complementary actions by states, local government, and the private sector.

This America 2050 forum, sponsored by our organizations and supported by the Rockefeller Foundation, the Surdna Foundation, and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, will convene leaders from the civic, government and business sectors at thelandmark Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento on Tuesday, December 2, from 8:00am to 3:30pm. The day’s activities will include panel and audience discussion with prominent leaders from the Northern California megaregion as well as national leaders who will guide the formation of a national infrastructure investment strategy.

The forum coincides with the Bicentennial and Centennial of plans during the Thomas Jefferson (1808) and Theodore Roosevelt (1908) administrations that influenced the development of national railways and federal-led environmental restoration and power generation projects, respectively. In this current era of global economic competition, after decades of underinvestment in our nation’s public assets, and with a critical need to reinvigorate an American economy that produces jobs and prosperity, the importance of a national infrastructure investment agenda has never been greater.

Space is limited for this event therefore members are encouraged to confirm their attendance as soon as possible. To register, contact Lauren Straub, lstraub@bayareacouncil.org; 415-946-8727.
